Signs & Symptoms of Heroin Abuse:

  1. Shortness of breath
  2. Dry mouth
  3. Constricted pupils
  4. Sudden change in behavior/actions
  5. Disorientation
  6. Cycles of Hyper-alertness & dozing off
  7. Droopy, heavy appearance
  8. Paraphernalia like needles, syringes
  9. Burnt silver spoons
  10. Straws/foil/gum wrappers with burn marks
  11. Missing shoelaces
  12. Increased or new anxiety, depression, ADD and/or ADHD
  13. Small plastic bags with white or brown powdery residue
  14. Water or other pipes
  15. Lying & deceptive behavior
  16. Avoiding eye contact
  17. Increased sleeping
  18. Garbled or slurred speech
  19. Sudden worsening of performance at school/work
  20. Decreasing attention to personal hygiene; weight loss; runny nose
  21. Needle marks, infections
  22. Withdrawal from family and friends; instead spending time with new, lesser known contacts
  23. Loss of motivation, lack of interest in normal hobbies
  24. Repeated theft or borrowing funds from family & friends
  25. Hostile behavior towards loved ones; blame, paranoia, hypersensitivity, irritability
